As much as cell phones connect us from a distance, mostly they have separated us when we are within each other's presence.
Addiction to cell phone technology has created a culture that will ignore someone near you in preference to focusing on your phone.
Now with the pandemic the cell phone is the only safe way to connect. But when the pestilence passes will it only have increased the addiction and continue to separate us more?
By becoming aware of our behavior, we can change it, if we so choose. Perhaps there is a missing balance between cell phone use and effective live human interaction.
